Episode 1: Genesis
"In recent days, a seemingly random group of individuals has emerged with what can only be described as “special” abilities. With a total eclipse making its way across the globe, a professor, Mohinder Suresh, learns of his father's death. Upon hearing the news, Mohinder travels to New York where he begins to uncover a secret theory involving eight individuals, all different ages and all from different backgrounds, which discover that they each have been granted unique super powers. A young male nurse tries to convince his brother that he can fly; a struggling, single mother discovers she can be in two places at once; a high school cheerleader tests her indestructibility; a drug-addicted artist paints events before they happen; and a Japanese man begins to develop his ability to stop time. Though all these heroes live in different parts of the globe and have unique abilities, they all have one thing in common -- their destiny is to save the world.

As Hiro travels to New York, Peter and Nathan discuss Peter's tumble off of a skyscraper. Claire's ability is nearly showcased in front of the entire school after she finds that the tape of her injury attempt is missing. After Niki finds murdered thugs in her garage, she has no recollection of the incident, and begins to think that she's losing her mind. She is then paid a visit by Social Services concerning Micah. Beat cop Matt Parker soon realizes that he can hear the thoughts of a little girl who has disappeared.

Suresh is finally able to track down one of his father's genetically advanced beings. In Las Vegas, Hiro tries to use his powers as an advantage while at casinos, but his plan soon backfires. As Peter reaches out to another hero in order to help them learn about their destiny, Niki stumbles upon an opportunity. Meanwhile, Claire's abilities are put to the test at a tragic bonfire, but one of Issac's paintings show that Claire's future may not be so bright; and Matt abilities are sized up by a pair of men.

Meanwhile, Matt secretly uses his mind-reading ability to anticipate his wife's needs. Dismayed by recent events, Suresh makes plans to return to India to lay both his father's remains and his research to rest.

Meanwhile, Isaac receives another confusing call from Hiro, but Peter is there this time to pick up the phone and relay a life-saving message. Suresh bids farewell to Eden as he heads back to India to bury his father. An unexpected visitor shows up at Niki's home.
